Data Migration
Changing platforms doesn't have to mean risking years of accumulated data.
A platform change is one of the most critical technical decisions a brand can make. The product catalogue built up over years, the customer database, order history, product reviews and — most importantly — the rankings earned in search engines can all suffer in a poorly planned migration.
In Commerslab's data migration service the goal isn't just to copy data to the new system; it's to preserve business continuity. Our key measures are that sales don't stop during the migration, traffic doesn't fall afterwards, and customers feel no loss whatsoever.
We're experienced in moving to Shopify from WooCommerce, Magento, Ticimax, İdeasoft, OpenCart, PrestaShop, T-Soft and custom-built platforms. Migrations in the reverse direction or between different platforms are possible too.
What gets migrated?
Products, variants, images, category structure, stock and price information, customer records, address books, order history, discount coupons, product reviews and blog content are all part of the standard migration scope.
Before migrating we clean the data: duplicate records, missing attribute fields and inconsistent category mappings are fixed. Moving dirty data to a new system means carrying the problem along with it.
Preserving SEO value
The biggest risk in a migration is losing search engine rankings. We prepare a complete 301 redirect map between the old and new URL structures and define a destination for every indexed page.
Meta titles, descriptions, structured data and the sitemap are rebuilt to suit the new platform. After launch, indexing status, crawl errors and ranking changes are monitored weekly via Search Console.
A seamless switchover plan
The migration is first run end to end in a test environment. Once data accuracy is verified with sample checks, a low-traffic time slot is chosen for the real switchover.
During the switchover, DNS routing, live verification of payment and shipping integrations and testing of the order flow are carried out simultaneously. A rollback plan is kept ready in case anything goes wrong.

Common questions about data migration
Will my sales stop during the migration?
No. Most of the migration happens in the background while your site is live. Only the moment of switchover needs a short maintenance window, which we schedule for your lowest-traffic hour.
Will my SEO rankings drop?
With the right redirect plan there's no lasting loss. Small fluctuations in the first weeks are normal; rankings usually return to their previous level within 2–6 weeks, and in most projects climb higher thanks to the speed advantage of the new platform.
Is my order history migrated too?
Yes. Letting customers see their past orders in the new store matters for both customer experience and accounting continuity; it's part of our standard scope.
How long does it take?
It depends on catalogue size. For stores with up to 1,000 products it's usually 1–2 weeks; for stores with 10,000+ products and complex variant structures it can take 3–5 weeks.
